ECATEPEC, M\u00c9X.\u2014 La proyecci\u00f3n es contundente: hasta dos millones de perros y gatos podr\u00edan dejar de nacer en Ecatepec en los pr\u00f3ximos cinco a\u00f1os si se cumple la meta inmediata de mil 200 esterilizaciones gratuitas planteadas por el gobierno municipal durante la Semana del Bienestar Animal, que se realiza del 13 al 18 de abril.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La alcaldesa Azucena Cisneros Coss deline\u00f3 la magnitud del problema al se\u00f1alar que el municipio concentra cerca de un mill\u00f3n de animales en situaci\u00f3n de calle, dentro de un universo estatal que supera los cinco millones. La estrategia \u201cHuellitas de Amor\u201d surge en ese contexto como una intervenci\u00f3n intensiva que, afirm\u00f3, impacta no solo en el bienestar animal, sino en la seguridad p\u00fablica y la salud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEs un asunto de derechos, de salud p\u00fablica y de seguridad\u201d, sostuvo la edil, al advertir que la presencia descontrolada de fauna feral incide directamente en riesgos para la poblaci\u00f3n, particularmente para ni\u00f1as, ni\u00f1os y sectores vulnerables. En 2023, Ecatepec registr\u00f3 17 mil mordeduras, adem\u00e1s de la existencia de al menos 140 enfermedades asociadas al contacto con animales en abandono.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Las brigadas veterinarias se desplegar\u00e1n en zonas identificadas por su alta densidad de animales callejeros, como Ciudad Cuauht\u00e9moc, Luis Donaldo Colosio, Santa Tom\u00e1s Chiconautla, La Laguna Chiconautla y Los Bordos, antes de concentrar actividades en una macro jornada el 18 de abril en la explanada municipal, donde tambi\u00e9n se promover\u00e1 la adopci\u00f3n y la tenencia responsable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El dise\u00f1o de la campa\u00f1a toma en cuenta estudios de la UNAM sobre reproducci\u00f3n exponencial, que advierten que una sola perra y su descendencia pueden generar hasta 2 mil 48 ejemplares en un periodo de cinco a\u00f1os, lo que explica la urgencia de medidas de control poblacional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Desde la Direcci\u00f3n de Salud, Mar\u00eda Elizabeth Halley Castillo inform\u00f3 que el municipio acumula ya 6 mil 500 esterilizaciones y opera bajo el modelo CREAR (Contener, Resguardar, Esterilizar, Adoptar y Retornar), enfocado en atender la problem\u00e1tica sin recurrir al sacrificio. \u201cAqu\u00ed se esteriliza para conservar la vida\u201d, enfatiz\u00f3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La campa\u00f1a articula la participaci\u00f3n de instituciones acad\u00e9micas, organizaciones protectoras, sector privado y voluntariado, incluidos j\u00f3venes del programa Universitarios en Movimiento por el Bienestar, quienes colaboran en campo tras recibir capacitaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cisneros Coss subray\u00f3 que esta intervenci\u00f3n se alinea con la estrategia nacional contra el maltrato animal impulsada por la presidenta Claudia Sheinbaum y la gobernadora Delfina G\u00f3mez, y la defini\u00f3 como la mayor acci\u00f3n veterinaria en la historia del municipio para recuperar el control del entorno urbano.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
